For this project, revisit your reading responses and previous work about literary works-- fiction, poetry, and drama. You'll be taking one and expanding on it, but responding to the work in a new way. Rather than writing a traditional essay, your task is to create a response to the text using a different mode, mixing words, sounds, and/or images.
Grading
The Multimodal Project Proposal dropbox is worth 20 points.
The Proposal must include what you plan to focus on about your chosen work(s), and still be built around a working thesis, as well as a detailed explanation of what you want to explore about your chosen texts. You should raise two or three questions or points that reflect on specific aspects of the work-- its characters, conflict, theme, or use of literary techniques and elements. You also need to explain which medium you will use to make your own point, and why you think that medium is appropriate for your project and what you plan to say about your chosen text. The proposal should also be relatively error-free.
Instructions
1. Create a new document on your computer, and write your Multimodal Project Proposal using the guidelines below. Focus your proposal on what you find most important about the text (and think of this as a thesis statement). Also flesh out the plan you have for your creative piece, and the rationale behind it. You need to give specific reasons for the mode you are using, whether it's audio, visual, or text-based. Your Multimodal Project Proposal document must include 4 parts: The text you want to focus on, and what you are trying to respond to within or say about your chosen text and its specific elements (3-4 sentences); this focuses on the author's work Your working thesis (1 sentence; what you'll be trying to get across in a different medium) The medium you plan to use, and why-- audio script, photo essay, storyboard, blog setting, music video, original short video, collage, interactive story, and so on (2-3 sentences) A brief rationale for your choice of topic and medium (4-5 sentences); this focuses on your work *Sample attached Please keep in mind that this assignment is preparing you for the other one coming up so is important to have a plan of how you're going to do the project.
