in the years from 1867 to 1945, the Canadian government sought to build a strong unified and economically successful nation from the disparate colonies and peoples that were brought together in confederation. hOWEVER, THE PROCESS OF "NATION-BUILDING" led to alienation and conflict with two of cANADA'S INITIAL PEOPLES, fRENCH cANADIANS AND aboriginal peoples. Examine why and the long term implications for Canada's national unity.
