Observe the interactions of the team members during both meetings and analyse their behaviour from the perspective of emotional intelligence

In the dynamic 21st Century economy where mobility is often not only possible but integral to a successful career, being able to work in an intercultural and diverse environment is
essential. Organisations frequently need their people to develop their capacity to work effectively in diverse teams and resolve or diffuse conflicts and miscommunication quickly
and efficiently. The keys to your ability to work effectively in intercultural and diverse teams are the development of emotional intelligence and awareness of cultural differences. Emotional intelligence enables the ability to consciously examine group and team dynamics in real time in order to facilitate effective individual and team performance. This assessment aims to develop your understanding of how intercultural and diverse teams function and how you can use this knowledge to help develop intercultural and diverse teams into high performing teams.
Scenario:
For the purpose of this assessment, you and your team have joined LIU Consulting. LIU Consulting specialises in supporting their clients in developing high performing teams
throughout their business. Your consulting team has been assigned to Company X and one of their teams currently working on Project X. The team consists of four members Kurt, Nassuro, Luojin and their team leader Chris. The team as a whole has been together for about three months. They are now familiar with each other, but have not had any pressure where they had to perform up until this point.
The team’s client has ‘incentives’ for an early delivery by offering the company as a whole a 100,000 AUD bonus for meeting an earlier deadline. Chris’s boss (the company manager) has confided in Chris that the company could really use the money and needs the team to push for the new deadline but does not want Chris to disclose the financial issue with the team as he fears it will cause them to loose focus and start hunting for other jobs. He has however allowed Chris to offer the team $1,000 bonuses each if they meet the deadline.
There are two recordings available for you from two of their recent meetings. The first one is when the task to bring the deadline forward has been announced and the second touch base meeting where the progress of the team is discussed.
Throughout the consulting engagement your team will review the recording through multiple theoretical lenses with the aim of offering deep insight and tailored recommendations for the development of a high performing team within the Company X.
Instructions/Logistics:
x At the end of Module 1 your lecturer will allocate you to a consulting team.
x The video recordings of Company X’s team case is located in the Assessment Centre under Assessment 2.
x The first part of the assessment is a case analysis where you are required to analyse the team using various concepts covered up to Module 5.
x The second part of the assessment is a presentation of the results of the analysis and recommendations to the client. You can choose a form of the presentation based on the strengths of your team members and on your preferences.
PART A Case Analysis
In this part of the assessment, you are required to analyse the team using various concepts covered up to Module 5. Use theoretical knowledge from the module readings and further
research. Support your analysis by both theory and practice based references, cited using APA referencing style.
Areas of Analysis
x Observe the interactions of the team members during both meetings and analyse their behaviour from the perspective of emotional intelligence.
x Consider each of the team members interactions and whether you can see any indicators of what is motivating or driving their behaviour.
x Consider each of the team members interactions and analyse whether you can see any indicators of team dynamics inhibiting the team’s performance.
x Consider each of the team members interactions and analyse whether you can see potential for miscommunication or differences in approaches to work that may relate to any of the Hofsteade Cultural Dimensions.
Recommendations
Prepare a list of recommendations addressing all areas analysed. The aim is to provide advice to the client on how they could develop the team members and bring the team to a higher level of performance. Identify key risks/challenges associated with your recommendations and the way they could be controlled.
Prepare Business Report summarising the findings of your analysis. Use the standard business report structure including Title Page, Executive Summary, Table of Contents, Analysis,
Recommendations, Conclusion and References.
PART B Presentation
One part of your engagement is to prepare a presentation to the client summarising your findings, recommendations, potential risks/challenges associated with them and their
potential controls.
You have not received any specifications in terms of how you will present the findings and it is up to you which form of presentation you will choose. You can use for example Prezie,
Infographics, Animations, Short Video etc. It is up to your team and the strengths of your team members to decide on the form of your presentation.
The students will agree on the exact form and presentation guidelines with their facilitator.

Write a short comparison and contrasting essay that defines and explains three distinct perspectives on the evolution of technology. Essay should be 5 paragraphs, paragraph 1 is the lead paragraph, an overview of what you have to say. Paragraph 2, 3, and 4 are the body paragraphs, with paragraph 2 describes the perspective of Gerhard Lenski, paragraph 3 describes the perspectives of Leslie White, and paragraph 4 describes the perspectives of Alvin Toffler. Paragragh 5 is a summary and conclusion, comparing the three perspectives how they may be similar. Contrast the three perspectives to describe how they are different. End by expressing your view as to which theorist or theorists offer the most useful insights into the evolution of technology. Skip a line between paragraphs.

Illustration Essay

Illustration essay is here to prove a particular thing exists. This particular essay type relies much more on a research than analysis in order to prove a particular point. It contains a great deal of description and provides the reader with vocal examples. The thesis is formulated in the introduction; then it is developed with the help of illustrative examples within the body paragraphs – just to be perpetuated in the conclusion by the end of the essay.

Writing the Illustration Essay

An illustration essay is also commonly referred to as an Example essay. Of all the different kinds of essays students write, this exists as the most straightforward, easiest essay to write. While other essays require very specific aspects, such as the Cause and Effect essay, an illustration essay is exactly what it sounds like: an illustration of a particular subject. If you’re wondering if it requires drawing, have no fear! In an illustration essay, the writer illustrates his or her points with clear, authentic examples—not pictures. The body paragraphs should contain research illustrating the thesis, and likely the Works Cited and/or Bibliography pages.

Cause and Effect Essay

Cause and Effect Essay
. A cause-effect essay tells how one event (the cause) leads to another event (the effect).
A cause-effect essay can do one of two things:
•  It can analyze the ways in which one or more effects result from a particular cause. (Focus-on-Effects Method)
•  It can analyze the ways in which one or more causes lead to a particular effect. (Focus-on-Causes Method)
In other words, your essay may focus more on the effects of a cause or more on the causes of one effect. Either approach provides a useful means of discussing the possible relationship between the two events. It is not a good idea to mix several causes and several effects in an essay because your focus may become unclear.
In cause-effect essays, it is easy to suggest that because one event preceded another event, the former event caused the latter. Simply because one event follows another one sequentially does not mean that the two actions are related. For example, people often complain that as soon as they finish washing their car, it starts to rain. Obviously, washing a car does not cause rain. Writers need to be sure that the causes and effects they describe are logically connected.

The five-paragraph essay

A common method for writing an argumentative essay is the five-paragraph approach. This is, however, by no means the only formula for writing such essays. If it sounds straightforward, that is because it is; in fact, the method consists of (a) an introductory paragraph (b) three evidentiary body paragraphs that may include discussion of opposing views and (c) a conclusion.

Evolution Part 3: Problems

Evolution Part 3: Problems  1. You will notice that some lineages (e.g. the descendants of species 56) branched many times and are represented by many living species. What type of ecological conditions would result in the rapid diversification of some lineages? (A real world example would be the diversification of the mammals at the beginning of the Cenozoic, right after the dinosaurs went extinct.) 2. Some lineages (e.g. the descendants of species 58) changed very little over time.  A good example of this would be “living fossils” like the horseshoe crab or cockroach. What is an example of an ecological condition that might cause this to happen?3. Some caminalcules went extinct without leaving descendants. In the real world, what factors might increase or decrease the probability of a species going extinct?4. Find one example of convergent evolution among the caminalcules.  This means finding cases where two or more species have a similar characteristic that evolved independently in each lineage.  The wings of bats, birds and bees are an example of convergence since the three groups did not inherit the characteristic from their common ancestor.  Write your answers in complete sentences (e.g. “Species x and y both
have ____ but their most recent common ancestor, z, did not”). 5. Describe one example of vestigial structures that you can find among the caminalcules. These are structures that have been reduced to the point that they are virtually useless.  Ear muscles and the tailbones are examples of vestigial structures in our own species. 6. Explain how vestigial structures provide clues about a species’ evolutionary past.  Illustrate your argument with vestigial structures found in humans or other real species.

Part 2: Caminalcules as a Model of the Fossil Record

Part 2: Caminalcules as a Model of the Fossil Record First, read about the Caminalcules, which were imaginary animals invented by the late University of Kansas evolutionary biologist Joseph Camin.
Then create the phylogenic tree for Caminalcules. Caminalcules as a Model of the Fossil RecordCaminalcules were imaginary animals invented by the late University of Kansas evolutionary biologist, Joseph Camin. They make ideal model organisms for introducing students to evolution. In this lab, you will construct an evolutionary history of the caminalcules using fossil species. In the process of doing this exercise, you are introduced to concepts, such as convergent evolution and vestigial structures. As a consequence of Darwin's work, taxonomic classifications must be actual reflections of the evolutionary history of the group being studied.
For example, Linnaeus put humans and wolves in the class Mammalia, within the phylum Chordata, because they share certain characteristics (e.g., backbone, hair, etc.). We now interpret this similarity as reflecting the shared evolutionary history of both species through their descent from a common ancestor.  Generally speaking, the more resemblance between two species, the more recently they diverged from their common ancestor. Thus, when we say that the human and wolf are more closely related to each other than either is to the honeybee, we mean that they share a common ancestor that is not shared with the honeybee.Another way of showing the evolutionary relationship between organisms is in the form of a phylogenetic tree (Gk. phylon, stock, tribe + genus, birth, origin):The vertical axis in this figure is the timeline, typically shown over millions of years. The separation of two lines indicates when that lineage split from each other, despite their common ancestor. For example, the diagram shows us that mammals diverged from reptiles about 150
million years ago. The most recent common ancestor shared by mammals and reptiles is indicated by point A in the diagram. The horizontal axis represents, in a general way, the amount of divergence that has occurred between different groups; the greater the distance, the more divergence has happened and the further back in time is the common ancestor. Since they share a fairly recent ancestor, species within the same group (such as the class Mammalia) tend to be closer to each other at the top of the tree than they are to members of other groups. Several types of evidence can elucidate the evolutionary relationship between organisms. One approach is to compare living species. The greater the differences between them, the longer ago they presumably diverged. There are, however, pitfalls with this approach. Occasionally, species resemble each other because they independently evolved similar structures in response to similar environments or ways of life, not because of a recent common ancestor. This is called convergent evolution; distantly related species seem to have converged on a common set of adaptations. Examples of convergent evolution include the wings of bats, birds, and insects, or the streamlined shape of dolphins and fish. At first glance, it might appear that dolphins are fish. However, further examination shows this resemblance is superficial, resulting from the fact that dolphins and fish have adapted to the same environment.  The presence of hair, the ability to lactate and homeothermy clearly demonstrate that dolphins are mammals. Fish lack these features. The fossil record can also be helpful for constructing phylogenetic trees. For example, bears were once thought to be within the order Carnivora. Recently discovered fossils, however, show that they actually diverged from the Canidae (wolves, etc.) fairly recently. The use of fossils is not without its problems, however. The most notable, and perhaps greatest problem, is the incomplete nature of the fossil record. This is more of a problem for some organisms than others. For example, organisms with shells or bony skeletons are more likely to be preserved than those without hard body parts.Construct a Phylogenetic Tree for the Caminalcules1. Obtain a large sheet of paper on which to construct a phylogenetic tree for the caminalcules.  2. Use a meter stick to draw 20 equally spaced horizontal lines on the paper. • Use each line to indicate an interval of one million years. • Label each line so that the one at the bottom of the paper represents an age of 19 million years and the top line represents the present (0 years). 3. Download the caminalcules Handout and cut out all the caminalcules (including the living species).4. Put them in piles according to their age (the number in parentheses indicates age in millions of years).  5. Beginning with the oldest fossils, arrange the caminalcules on the tree according to their evolutionary relationship. Remember, the oldest forms are at the bottom of the tree. Hints, Suggestions and Warningsa. Use a pencil to faintly draw lines indicating the path of evolution. Only after you are sure of the correctness of your tree should you glue the figures in place and darken the lines.b. Branching should involve only two lines at a time: Like this          Not thisc. Some living forms are also found in the fossil record.d. There are gaps in the fossil record for some lineages. Also, some species went extinct without leaving any descendants.e. The caminalcules numbering is random; the numbers provide no clues to evolutionary relationships.f. There is only one correct phylogenetic tree in this exercise. This is because of the way that Joseph Camin derived his imaginary animals. He started with the most primitive form (#73) and gradually modified it using a process that mimics evolution in real organisms. After you complete your phylogeny, compare it with Camin's original found in the course content.

Evolution

Evolution There are three parts to this lab. In part one, you will explore a fossil site, sketch a fossil, and write a short paragraph about the fossil and one of the fossil sites you visited. In part two, you will create a phylogenic tree, print and cut out all the caminalcules (you don’t have to be precise, and should leave the numbers attached), and glue the caminalcules to the tree following the instructions provided. In part three, use the tree to answer the six problems at the end of this document. Part 1: Fossil Record1. Write a short paragraph about one of the sites you “visited”.I visited National Geographic and looked through lots of pictures and facts about fossils. There are so many different types of fossils, coming in all different shapes and sizes. There would be a picture of a fossil with a paragraph next to it sharing information about the fossil. The website was very informative and helpful. 2. Make a sketch of your favorite fossil.3. Write a one-paragraph description to accompany your sketch.I sketched an example of a Stromatolite fossil. These types of fossils are the oldest fossils found at the Grand Canyon. I found this fossil to be very pretty and unique, and that’s why I chose it to be the fossil I sketched.

Art Interpretive Evaluation Essay

For this Art Interpretive Evaluation Essay, you will view, interpret, and evaluate the work of visual art presented in the Chapter 5 Required Online Exploration area. The painting is the "Self-Portrait on the Border Between Mexico and the United States" by Frida Kahlo. She composed this painting during a prolonged stay in the United States while her husband Diego Rivera was working there on another art project.1. First be sure you have reviewed all materials in this learning module and that you have read Chapter 5 in your textbook.
2. You may wish to open the larger version of Kahlo's painting to more carefully examine it as you compose your evaluation.
3. You should also refer back to the Chapter 5 Required Online Exploration resources and USE AND CITE these research sources in your essay. You may use additional resources too.Wikipedia, SparkNotes, and sites like them are not acceptable for academic work for they are not peer-reviewed. In any case, be sure to cite your sources using the MLA style format.
4. Essay Instructions: Now that you've carefully examined the work of visual art and completed your research, compose an essay of at least 800 words (total) where you compose an essay of FIVE fully developed paragraphs (one paragraph for each of the following questions):
· Paragraph1: Describe the painting: What is your general impression of the painting? What parts of the painting represent Mexico? What parts of the painting represent the United States? How do these two depictions differ?
· Paragraph 2: Interpret the painting: Kahlo once said, "I paint myself because I am so often alone and because I am the subject I know best." What parts of herself does Kahlo seem to be exploring in this self-portrait? What might she be saying about herself in relation to the two countries in the painting? Cite examples to support your interpretation.
· Paragraph 3: Identify the artistic characteristics and styles in the painting: What elements of surrealism do you see in the painting? What elements of indigenous art do you see? How do the two work together? Cite specific examples.
· Paragraph 4: Interpret the artist's motivation: This is the most speculative. Frida Kahlo was first exhibited as Mrs. Diego Rivera. How do you think being married to a famous man affected Kahlo's life and her work? Is there anything in the painting that has relevance to her position as a famous artist's wife?
· Paragraph 5: This painting is considered a "valuable and important" piece of art. Do you agree? If so, explain which features of the painting makes you agree. If not, explain why you disagree by citing relevant features of the painting.

Assignment Manufacturing Budget Analysis

Assignment 2—Manufacturing Budget Analysis
Tom Emory and Jim Morris strolled back to their plant from the administrative offices of Ferguson & Son Manufacturing Company. Tom is manager of the machine shop in the company's factory; Jim is manager of the equipment maintenance department.
The men had just attended the monthly performance evaluation meeting for plant department heads. These meetings had been held on the third Tuesday of each month since Robert Ferguson, Jr., the president's son, had become plant manager a year earlier.
As they were walking, Tom Emory spoke: “Boy, I hate those meetings! I never know whether my department's accounting reports will show good or bad performance. I'm beginning to expect the worst. If the accountants say I saved the company a dollar, I'm called ‘Sir,’ but if I spend even a little too much—boy, do I get in trouble. I don't know if I can hold on until I retire.”
Tom had just been given the worst evaluation he had ever received in his long career with Ferguson & Son. He was the most respected of the experienced machinists in the company. He had been with the company for many years and was promoted to supervisor of the machine shop when the company expanded and moved to its present location. The president (Robert Ferguson, Sr.) had often stated that the company's success was due to the high-quality work of machinists like Tom. As supervisor, Tom stressed the importance of craftsmanship and told his workers that he wanted no sloppy work coming from his department.
When Robert Ferguson, Jr., became the plant manager, he directed that monthly performance comparisons be made between actual and budgeted costs for each department. The departmental budgets were intended to encourage the supervisors to reduce inefficiencies and to seek cost reduction opportunities. The company controller was instructed to have his staff “tighten” the budget slightly whenever a department attained its budget in a given month; this was done to reinforce the plant manager's desire to reduce costs. The young plant manager often stressed the importance of continued progress toward attaining the budget; he also made it known that he kept a file of these performance reports for future reference
when he succeeded his father.
Tom Emory's conversation with Jim Morris continued as follows:
Emory: I really don't understand. We've worked so hard to meet the budget, and the minute we do so they tighten it on us. We can't work any faster and still maintain quality. I think my men are ready to quit trying. Besides, those reports don't tell the whole story. We always seem to be interrupting the big jobs for all those small rush orders. All that setup and machine adjustment time is killing us. And quite frankly, Jim, you were no help. When our hydraulic press broke down last month, your people were nowhere to be found. We had to take it apart ourselves and got stuck with all that idle time.
Morris: I'm sorry about that, Tom, but you know my department has had trouble making budget, too. We were running well behind at the time of that problem, and if we had spent a day on that old machine, we would never have made it up. Instead, we made the scheduled inspections of the forklift trucks because we knew we could do those in less than the budgeted time.
Emory: Well, Jim, at least you have some options. I'm locked into what the scheduling department assigns to me and you know they're being harassed by sales for those special orders. Incidentally, why didn't your report show all the supplies you guys wasted last month when you were working in Bill's department?
Morris: We're not out of the woods on that deal yet. We charged the maximum we could to other work and haven't even reported some of it yet.
Emory: Well, I'm glad you have a way of getting out of the pressure. The accountants seem to know everything that's happening in my department, sometimes even before I do. I thought all that budget and accounting stuff was supposed to help, but it just gets me into trouble. It's all a big pain. I'm trying to put out quality work; they're trying to save pennies.
Review the case. Respond to the following:
Identify the problems that appear to exist in Ferguson & Son Manufacturing Company's budgetary control system and explain how the problems are likely to reduce the effectiveness of the system. (approximately 1 page) Explain how Ferguson & Son Manufacturing Company's budgetary control system could be revised to improve its effectiveness. (approximately 1–2 pages) Explain how the use of an activity-based costing system could change the results of the budget, if utilized. (approximately 1 page) As stated in the case, many employees have “quit trying” and have altered behavior on the job. Provide specific ways for how you would use a budget to change employee behavior and align goals in the organization. Explain how goal alignment can improve profitability and overall return to the shareholders of the company. (approximately 1 page) Synthesize data to explain the concept of ROI and describe how the use of an activity-based costing system can improve the company’s ROI and the potential impact on free cash flow. (approximately 1 page) Write a 5–6-page report in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

During the systems development life cycle (SDLC), certain key problems discovered in the later stages could be directly traced back to inadequate and/or poor efforts in the requirements phase and industry studies show that over 50% of systems problems belong to this case. In addition, as mentioned in this week lecture notes "the cost of errors in requirements that weren’t discovered until later" may go up to 1,000 times. As a systems analyst, what should we do to minimize this problem? How might this be avoided?

Cryptographic Algorithms

Cryptographic Algorithms
This week reading focused on three types of cryptographic algorithms: (1) Secret key, (2) Public key, (3) Hash functions. Pick an algorithm for any one of these types (e.g., DES, AES, RSA, MD5) and describe how it works and where it is applied in network security. (For example SSL uses 3DES or DES for message encryption.) Use your own words. When you pick an algorithm, try not to repeat.
Part 2: Information Protection at Large
Cryptographic algorithms protect data at rest and during transit to some degree. By encrypting data, you are assuring that only authorized individuals or systems can read the data. Similarly by using integrity techniques such as hashing and message authentication code you are assuring no unauthorized person had made changes. In other words, you can think of cryptography as a means of access control. Cryptography alone is not sufficient for complete data protection. For example, a person can walk into your computer room and physically destroy your data in your disk and other storage medium. Your computer room can be destroyed by fire or flood. Cryptography certainly does not address availability concerns. An insider can log into your computer systems and delete files or a row of data in your database. So, you need physical security; you need authentication and authorization controls in both hard and soft forms. The questions for this second part of the conference then: What methods/facilities are available to secure data in today's systems? Have these methods proved to be adequate? So, this second part of this conference is to go beyond cryptographic techniques and think of other forms of protection information security needs.
You are encouraged to conduct research on your own and consult reputable sources.
Post your concise answers (in your own words) one for Part 1 and one or Part 2. as a reply to this conference topic. Don’t forget to list your sources. Also, respond in a few sentences to at least two of your colleagues' responses either for Part 1 or Part 2 or both.

Assignment 2: Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

Assignment 2: Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
Over the years, trait theory has been increasingly used by corporations in hiring and in career counseling. Research has shown that certain combinations of personality traits fit well with different career paths. Thus, personality trait tests for specific jobs can be predictive of both success and satisfaction. Understanding your own personality-trait combinations can give you great insight into your own strengths and weaknesses. With this understanding, you can work to grow your strengths and minimize your weaknesses.
In this assignment, you will explore your personality using a personality test and then analyze the results.
Part 1
First, explore your personality preferences by completing Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MTBI). The full version of the test can only be administered by a trained professional; however, there are many online informal versions of the test which you can find on the Internet. You can search for the test using any one of the following keywords:
Personality test + Myers-Briggs typology Myers-Briggs test Record your four-lettered personality type after completion of the test and use the Internet to interpret your personality type.
Part 2
In this part of the assignment, you will write a research paper that analyses your results. Do the following:
Mention your four-letter type and the URL of the Web site where you took the test. Discuss whether this type accurately represents what you know about yourself. Examine the four spectrums and explain your answer thoroughly. Substantiate your agreement or disagreement with real-life behavioral examples. Analyze what you consider the strengths and the weaknesses or challenges of this type. List three strengths and three weaknesses and provide a rationale for each. Evaluate why this test could be a valuable tool for an employer. Analyze how a clinician may use this test as a tool for promoting meaningful interventions in treatment. Summarize what you have learned about yourself through this exercise.

transformation processes

1.There is a figure in 13.2 that illustrates transformation processes. In one or two paragraphs, explain how what you do (or intend to do) at work can be described in that way. For instance, if you’re a physician, you have inputs of people who don’t feel well, your transformation process involves using your knowledge, medicines and equipment to treat the condition that is afflicting them and your output is (hopefully) patients who return to good health. This can be useful for your perspective, particularly as you see how your actions might fit into the overall process.
2. Since every control method has costs and benefits, we need to find a balance, and that balance will be subject to the level of variance we can accept. For instance, seed packets we might buy in a discount store would need a much lower level of control than seeds sent to the space station for experimentation. Think through that process in relation to your life, and tell about a time you think you were subjected to a control procedure that seemed either far too demanding or not demanding enough. It could be a policy at an educational institution, your place of work or even in your private life. Explain why you hold the opinion you do, and how you might amend the procedure to be more reasonable.

In accord with the obligations of the law in her state, she reported the matter to the Department of Welfare Bureau of Inspection.
The Welfare Department investigated immediately, found proof of abuse, and threatened to close down Shady Rest if there were any more recurrences. Mrs. Lewis was overjoyed until her hospital administrator, bypassing the director of nursing, called her in and warned her that she would be fired if she reported any other instances of abuse. Shady Rest sent the hospital a lot of business, and good relations had to be maintained.
Mrs. Lewis was even more shocked when she discovered that the administrator was a golf partner of the owner of Shady Rest and was doing an old buddy a favor. Despite fears of retaliation, Mrs. Lewis consulted a lawyer, who threatened the hospital with exposure and with penalties that would follow if one of its employees failed to follow the reporting provisions of the law on abuse in nursing homes.Did Mrs. Lewis act correctly? What should she have done if she could not have afforded to consult with a lawyer? In what ways can whistle-blowers protect themselves? Must the art of intimidation be part of the toolbox of healthcare professionals in order to protect their patients?
Is power an appropriate consideration in healthcare ethics?

With the emergence of early Greek and Roman drama came the development of satyr plays, which history has shown were bawdy in nature and contained dialogue and imagery that some people today might find offensive (in fact, an internet search of Greek and Roman pottery will find many adult-oriented pieces). Throughout time, theatre artists have always “pushed the limits” of decency – a sense of decency that is subjective and can be interpreted differently by different people. In today's world, film and television (even video games and music) have ratings systems, but live stage theatre still does not a formal ratings system. This journal is to reflect on and respond to the following
questions:
if theatre was to institute a ratings system, informing audiences of theatrical works containing sexual situations, adult language and/or violence, would you consider it a hinderance to the growth of theatre?
in your opinion, would a ratings system in theatre be considered censorship of the artist or merely a marketing strategy to increase sales (assisting the public in making a decision)?
why or why not?
include one example of a production, event, project or artist that would benefit and/or suffer
Create your response, in the Assignment submission box below (not in the Comments field), as a journal or diary entry. This response will not be read by your fellow classmates. The journal should be 1-2 pages long, approximately 400-500 words minimum. Be careful of spelling, grammar, capitalization, and punctuation...proofread and edit your work as necessary.
