A textile manufacturer is closing its North Carolina plant and moving the production of its products to a developing nation in Southeast Asia

A textile manufacturer is closing its North Carolina plant and moving the production of its products to a developing nation in Southeast Asia. The primary reason for the move is the lower labor cost that the organization can enjoy in the new location.
 Proponents of the decision laud the move as a means to save the organization by taking advantage of the free market and finding cheaper methods of producing the company’s goods.
 Opponents of the decision state that a breach of trust existed between the company and the employees, and that a breach of trust will occur due to this decision. Additionally, opponents cite recent findings that contractors in the Southeast Asia region where the company is moving have been cited for utilizing child labor and failing to provide working conditions equivalent to those in the United States.
 Officials in the Southeast Asia region have answered the criticisms of the use of child labor by pointing out that oftentimes children are the only individuals in a family who are capable of working, and to deny them that opportunity would create greater hardship on the already desperately poor population.
Based on the case study above, apply the deontological and teleological frameworks learned in this unit to provide the following information in your response:
 Describe which framework the proponents of this move would use to support their statement that it be considered ethical.
 Describe which framework the opponents of this move would use to support their statement that it be considered unethical.
 Describe style of leadership this decision reflects, and discuss whether this move would lead to a positive evaluation of leadership and organizational performance.
 Describe the level of corporate responsibility this decision reflects.
Be sure to follow the guidelines below:
 Be sure to include peer-reviewed sources to support
positions/conclusions.
 Analysis should be highly relevant, informative, and remain on topic.
 Accuracy should be strong with close attention to detail in all parts of the assignment.
 Writing should be clear and concise with solid sentence structure and should be free of grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors.
 Your paper should be at least two pages in length.
 You must also use at least three outside sources to support assertions and conclusions, all sources used must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted material must have accompanying citations in APA format.

Assignment 1 - Multiple-Stakeholder Process

Assignment 2: Required Assignment 1 - Multiple-Stakeholder Process
Review the following:
Management at Top Shelf has determined that the company doesn't need another top-down singularly focused recycling program. Instead, it wants to include a wide spectrum of views and inputs in the development of a sustainability mission and program that the company and the community can believe in.
Review the Top Shelf scenario so far.
Course Project Scenario: Top Shelf Shoes
Throughout this course, you will analyze various factors at a fictitious company called Top Shelf Shoes. In each module, you work on an assignment related to this analysis.
Review the course project scenario:
Top Shelf was found in 1990 by Tie Woodward. Within five years. Top Shelf had established a solid presence in the global shoe business with production facilities in Asia and sales throughout the world. By 2000, Top Shelf had a share of 45 percent of the global market in shoe sales.
In 2001, Top Shelf made the Fortune 500 list of privately held companies and Tie was awarded the coveted International Business Award. However, Tie claimed the real success of his firm could be seen in the stylish Top Shelf shoes being worn by everyone from villagers in Africa to rock stars in Hollywood.
In 2003, a major competitor of Top Shelf began a green marketing campaign to highlight its efforts to reduce its environmental footprint with its new "Green Shoe." A simultaneous, growing concern for environmental issues helped spur the sales of Top Shelf's competitor-it gained market share. As the competitor's sales increased, news stories began to question the implications of Top Shelf's business practices, especially as they related to low cost labor and environmental concerns. Within a fiscal quarter, Top Shelf sales were down by 10 percent. Tie responded by exclaiming on the Nightly Business Report that everyone had to wear shoes and Top Shelf made the best looking and most affordable foot fixtures on the planet. Sales fell another 5 percent the following quarter. Tie's management team attributed this to the competition's green efforts and the bad publicity received by Top Shelf.
Tie's firm hired a middle manager for environmental affairs and launched a green campaign that touted a Top Shelf shoe-recycling program with the slogan "We make them, you wear them, we'll recycle them. It's good for your feet and good for the earth. " Sales climbed back up 7 percent over the next quarter, and the boss gave out bonuses to his management team.
While initial reaction to the marketing was positive, especially among longtime Top Shelf shoe wearers, two reporters, Burnstone and Woodwoe, broke a story about the impact of air and water pollution at Top Shelf's shoe-recycling facility on the outskirts of a major city in Asia.
Apparently, some of the shoes were recycled to produce energy. According to the report by Burnstone and Woodwoe, the shoes were being burned by low-wage workers without any precautions for the worker's health. An increasing number of children and elderly in the region began showing up at clinics and hospitals with breathing problems, dizziness, and toxic blood poisoning. Then, a worker at the plant collapsed and died in front of the large kiln.
Global news organizations, bloggers, and You Tube broadcaster quickly picked up the story. The sales of Top Shelf began to plummet. By the end of the fiscal year, the company saw a 50 percent reduction in revenue as compared to the previous year. Growth was no longer the issue. Instead the company was faced with the problem of how to stay afloat despite the significant losses and depleting capital. This time, Tie made no public pronouncements. He lay off the manager of the recycling plant, shut down the kiln at the plant, and, on the advice of long-time friend Glifford Pinchot III, hired a reputable sustainable business consulting firm, Sustainable Growth Strategies, to advise Top Shelf on everything from public relations to substantive changes in the company's labor and environmental policies.
Assume you are leading the consulting team for Sustainable Growth Strategies. You are responsible for the analysis leading to a report with a set of recommendations to put Top Shelf on the path to sustainability. Your first task is to prepare a brief paper for Top Shelf that explains the meaning and use of sustainability within a business context. Your team reports directly to Tie Woodward. He is a sharp, hardworking, and open-minded leader with a sense of humor. Tie realizes that every day without genuine sustainability plan is bad for business. Therefore, he wants to show as soon as possible that the company is committed to sustainability. He realizes that there may be advantages in positioning top Shelf as a sustainability leader in the long run
Using the module readings, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, research the impact of public advocacy groups on sustainable business practice and the multiple-stakeholder process.
Write a paper addressing the following:
Identify and research at least two examples of companies that have been impacted by the campaigns of public advocacy groups. What is the value of democratic inputs in business decision making?
Identify and list all of the sustainability stakeholders at Top Shelf. Does each group have equal weight throughout the program development process? When should each be brought into the discussion?
Explain the advantages of implementing a multiple-stakeholder process that significantly influences a company's agenda for sustainability.
Describe the challenges in a multiple-stakeholder process for developing a sustainable business plan. Do the interests of one group outweigh the others?
Develop a step-by-step plan for implementing a multiple-stakeholder process. Your plan should assure the credibility of Top Shelf's sustainability plan in the public sphere and also be effective in meeting the goal of sustainability.
Suggest metrics for tracking the progress.

PICOT Statement and Literature Search

PICOT Statement and Literature Search
The first step of the EBP process is to develop a question from the nursing practice problem of interest.
Select a practice problem of interest to use as the focus of your research.
Start with the patient and identify the clinical problems or issues that arise from clinical care.
Following the PICOT format, write a PICOT statement in your selected practice problem area of interest, which is applicable to your proposed capstone project.
The PICOT statement will provide a framework for your capstone project (the project students must complete during their final course in the RN-BSN program of study).
Conduct a literature search to locate research articles focused on your selected practice problem of interest. This literature search should include both quantitative and qualitative peer-reviewed research articles to support your practice problem.
Select six peer-reviewed research articles which will be utilized through the next 5 weeks as reference sources. Be sure that some of the articles use qualitative research and that some use quantitative research. Create a reference list in which the six articles are listed.
Beneath each reference include the article's abstract. The completed assignment should have a title page and a reference list with abstracts.
Suggestions for locating qualitative and quantitative research articles from credible sources:
1. Use a library database such as CINAHL Complete for your search.
2. Using the advanced search page check the box beside "Research Article" in the "Limit Your Results" section.
3. When setting up the search you can type your topic in the top box, then add quantitative or qualitative as a search term in one of the lower boxes. Research articles often are described as qualitative or quantitative. To narrow/broaden your search, remove the words qualitative and quantitative and include words that narrow or broaden your main topic. For example: Diabetes and pediatric and dialysis. To determine what research design was used, review the abstract and the methods section of the article. The author will provide a description of data collection using qualitative or quantitative methods.
Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

Principles of Social Psychology, v. 1.0: Introducing Social Psychology

Principles of Social Psychology, v. 1.0: Introducing Social Psychology
Forum Assignment for the Week: 300 Words minimum For this week's Forum, respond to the following: Pick any of the cognitive shortcuts that humans use that are described in our readings this week (e.g., the different heuristics and biases). Think of a personal example of a time you used such a shortcut and it resulted in an error. We all make errors in judgment, so it should not be too much of a challenge to think of a cognitive error you have made at some point in your life.
First, describe the social psychological principle(s) behind the cognitive shortcut you used. Then, describe the situation you were in and how you used the shortcut. Describe how the shortcut resulted in an error in judgment or thinking. Finally, describe how this type of error can be avoided in the future. Was this particular error a "big deal" in your life? Why or why not?
Remember that all posts are graded for substance and thoughtful consideration of the forum topic.
General Instructions Applicable to All Forums:
Forums are scholarly dialogs, so while sharing what you think and not just what published authors wrote is encouraged, only stating opinion isn't acceptable. Instead, thoughtfully integrate relevant theory and research you read about this week and strive to make connections between that academic content and your own observations and experiences.
Source citation are required if used. Copying of published material, which is plagiarism, is prohibited and any instances of it, including forum posts, will result in a zero score without an option for re-submission to recoup lost points and a report sent to the Registrar's Office per University policy.
Discussion forum posts will be graded on verbal expression, critical thinking, making an effort to not just participate in but contribute to the dialog with initial and reply posts of a substantive nature commensurate with graduate level studies. Posts must have correct grammatical construction, spelling, and punctuation with no texting or other casual style language.

Definitions of Intercultural Conflict

Chapter 10: Intercultural Conflict
OUTLINE
I. Definitions of Intercultural Conflict
1. Intercultural conflict is defined as the implicit or explicit emotional struggle between persons of different cultural communities over perceived or actual incompatibility of cultural ideologies and values, situational norms, goals, face-orientations, scarce resources, styles/processes, and/or outcomes in a face-to-face (or mediated) context within a sociohistorical embedded system.
2. Intercultural conflict occurs when cultural group membership factors influence how individuals approach, avoid, and manage conflict.
Intercultural conflict involves a certain degree of ethnocentric perceptions and judgments.
II. A Model of Intercultural Conflict
1. Young Yum Kim has developed a model of intercultural conflict. Kim argues that intercultural conflict occurs at three interdependent and interrelated levels, including a micro, or individual level, an intermediary level, and a macro, or societal level.
a. The micro or individual level of intercultural conflict refers to each individual’s unique attitudes, dispositions, and beliefs that he or she brings to the conflict.
b. The intermediary level of intercultural conflict refers to the actual location and context of the conflict. Some environments (e.g., neighborhoods, at school, on the job) may be more likely than others to facilitate conflict.
c. The macro or societal level of intercultural conflict includes factors that probably are out of the control of the interactants. These conditions include any history of subjugation, ideological/ structural inequality, and minority group strength.
III. An Intercultural Conversation: Kim’s Model of Intercultural Conflict
1. Mike Fabion is the vice president of Acme Marketing Firm, a company his father founded. Acme is a direct marketing firm for insurance agencies. Mike is 58 years old and White. He was born and raised in Kenilworth, Illinois, a wealthy Chicago suburb. Mike has six directors under him in Acme’s organizational hierarchy. These six directors each manage and supervise about seven employees. Thus, Mike supervises about 50 employees. Once a year, Mike has one-on-one meetings with each employee. These meetings are a part of each employee’s annual evaluation.
Today, Mike is meeting with Nicole Newton. Nicole is a new employee and has worked for Acme for just over a year. She was hired soon after graduating from college with a bachelor’s degree in communication. This will be her first evaluation meeting. She was hired as a telemarketer and hopes to move up in the organization soon. She is African American and 23 years old. She was raised in the city of Chicago, in a public- housing district. Their meeting takes place in Mike’s office. She and Mike have never met.

Length:
Your memo should be 800-1100 words in length.
Advice on Conducting Primary Research:
When considering primary research, consider the various forms of research outlined in the chapters from Markel and Bovee and Thill. Consider
the following examples:
 For a report on teleworking, you might conduct interviews with fellow workers on the topic to see how and why they might benefit from
teleworking.
 If you are proposing that email be used less frequently for communication and that another application be used to improve communication, you
might interview fellow employees on the situation, and you might take screen captures of alternative communication tools to illustrate how they
work and would improve communication in your office.
 For a report on transitioning to a paperless office, you might take pictures of your office environment showing the clutter or unsafe
environment that hard-copy files create.
 For a report on building a playground area in the community, you might take pictures of the community area to show where such a playground
could be built, and you might interview residents who have children to get their perspective on the playground idea.
 For a report on recycling facilities, you might take pictures of the office environment to show that current recycling facilities are
inadequate, and you might interview fellow workers about whether they find it easy to recycle materials at your office.
Examples of How to Make Topics Specific for the Final Feport in WRTG 394:
If you wish to write a report to your manager at work suggesting that more teleworking options be given to employees at your workplace, you
cannot simply prepare a report on teleworking.
You must identify a specific problem in your organization and then show that teleworking will solve it.
If you wish to write a report to your supervisor at work suggesting that email be used less frequently for communication and that another
application be used to improve communication, you cannot simply prepare a report on the benefits of social media in the workplace. You must
establish that your specific office has problems in communicating by email and indicate the benefits of using alternative communication systems
for your workplace environment.
If you wish to write a report to your manager at work suggesting that your office become paperless, you cannot simply prepare a report on the
benefits of a paperless office. You must show that your specific office can go paperless and indicate the benefits of your specific office
going paperless.
If you wish to write a report to the board of directors at your townhouse community to argue that the playground area in your community should
be renovated, you cannot simply prepare a report on the benefits of a playground for a neighborhood. You must describe your specific playground
area and how it will benefit from renovations to it.
If you wish to write a report to the manager of your unit at work noting that recycling facilities in the workplace should be improved, you
cannot simply prepare a report on the benefits of recycling or of good recycling facilities in offices. You must show that your specific work
environment lacks adequate recycling facilities and show how it will benefit from improved recycling facilities.
