Is quality alone enough to be the leader in your industry? Quality can give you orders won, but that alone does not create a leader in a certain industry. A quality strategy is required to sustain long term quality of product, quality services supporting the product, and all processes internal and external with upstream and downstream customers. A quality strategy is not simple or fast, the strategy takes much time to develop, and an investment in time, people, and equipment. As stated earlier you can out cost your process to gain quality quickly, such as creating an additional inspection to eliminate defects, this may eliminate defects and will surely raise costs. A quality strategy must be carefully and methodically developed, followed, revised as they are dynamic. Strong leadership and support by upper management are a must for success.
