Write a profile essay.

Write a profile essay.
A profile is about a person, a place, or an event in your community. Its not about a friend, or a relative, and its not about an experience in which you participate as the principle actor. In fact, a profile encourages you to go out into your community and engage with people you dont know, explore a place that you want to visit, or report on an event in the community. -Identify a leader on your campus [or in your community]someone in sports, in student government . . . , in theater or debate, [or a student club]. Interview the leader and those who surround her or him. Write a profile of this person, and include relevant quotations from your interviews to help readers gain a clear picture of the subject (857). Caution, accessibility is important! Stay away from the mayor, a state representative, or anyone in a demanding job. Chances are he or she will not have the time. Look for a teacher, a little league coach, a dance instructor or an athletic trainer, a small business owner, maybe a firefighter, or a police officer. Friends are not good profile topics, unless theyre really strange and eccentric. Whatever you do, stay away from celebrities. You dont have the time or the resources. Plus, you must meet the person. No Internet bios. You may want to Identify and event . . . on your campus [or in your community]. Participate in or attend the event, interview other participants or attendees, and write a profile of it. Consider the main impression you want to convey about the eventremember that you need to find an interesting angleand use engaging details and dialogue to convey that impression
