Imagine that you have graduated and that you have already gained your Business & Management degree. You are working for the Tesco, in their headquarters in Hertfordshire as a graduate trainee in the HR Department, and you report to a HR Manager for the UK only. In the UK Tesco employ more than 310,000 employees in various different Tesco formats, e.g. Tesco Express and Tesco Extra. In the autumn of last year, it was announced that Tescos profits have been overstated resulting in a fall in their share price to their lowest level in 11 years (Reuters, 2014). As well as this Tescos sales have been falling (BBC, 2014). Tescos newly appointed Chief Executive Dave Lewis has indicated that he would improve customer service by boosting staff numbers (BBC, 2014).
As part of your induction period you have to complete a number of reports, presentations and small projects.
Heres a copy of the email your boss, Natasha Cole has sent you which outlines your first assignment:
