Describe your chosen individual’s physical, social/emotional, cognitive, and spiritual/ moral development

Advancing Development Paper Assignment Overview Practitioners in the helping professions must be open to seeing people from different perspectives and must develop compassion for others. An understanding of the different stages of human growth and development provides insight into various populations and age groups for person-centered care.
Learners articulate the theories for each developmental stage based on emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual factors. Learners identify challenges associated with the chosen developmental stage and propose applicable solutions to address these challenges. They compare and contrast their chosen developmental stage with the other two stages. They develop an understanding of the different stages of human growth and development and gain insight into various populations and age groups for person-centered care. Scenario: Maria is 43 years old and is a refugee from Cuba. She just came to the United States with her two children: Isabel, who is 13 years old, and Carlos, who is 3 years old. Choose one of the family members from the case study—Maria, Isabel, or Carlos. You will use this person for all of your advancing development papers. Note: This scenario is brief to allow you to make inferences as to development and potential problems that the individual may face. Assignment Instructions Part 1:
Choosing and Defining our Individual Note: All theories that you use for each of the categories need to be different; you cannot use the same theory more than once. 1. Choose one family member from the presented scenario:
• Maria, Isabel, or Carlos. 2. Describe your chosen individual’s physical, social/emotional, cognitive, and spiritual/ moral development. Be sure to address the following: • Physical Development i. What are some key terms and concepts that are important to know in relation this age group? 2 ii. Address any aspects of their appearance, motor skills/movement, and biological (hormones) that may be affecting their physical development. • Social/Emotional Development i. Identify 2 theories that are related to social/emotional development for this age group. ii. Give examples of how you may see these theories in your chosen individual’s life. • Cognitive Development i. Identify 2 theories that are related to cognitive development for this age group. ii. Give examples of how you may see these theories in your chosen individual’s life. iii. Explain the language development for your individual’s age group. • Spiritual/Moral Development. i. Identify 2 theories that are related to the spiritual and moral development for this age group. ii. Give examples of how you may see these theories in your chosen individual’s life. 3. Compare and contrast your chosen person’s stage of development with the other two family members’ developmental stages.
