This learning module/case study is intended to teach HR students the skills necessary to design, develop and
implement a training program. The module is segmented into five parts: Introduction to Training and Development,
Understanding the Organization, Training Design and the Learner, Conducting the Training, and Evaluation and Return
on Investment. Training Design and the Learner is the longest segment, starting at unit three and running through
unit seven. Units eight and nine comprise the segment on Conducting the Training, and the last unit, number 10,
concludes the module with Evaluation and Return on Investment.
Note: Unit seven uses another module, Transfer of Training by Holly Hutchins and Lisa Burke. There is no PowerPoint
slide deck for unit nine. The basic structure of the class follows the ADDIE method of instructional design.
Case Assignment
After reading the resource above, please address the following: Unit 1: Student Project, Unit 2: Student Project,
Unit 3: Student Project, Unit 4: Student Project, and Unit 5: Student Project.
Assignment Expectations
Your paper should be a full 4 pages in length, (not including cover sheet/title page and references). You are
expected to deal with these issues in an integrated fashion, rather than treating them as a series of individual
questions to be answered one by one. For this Case Assignment, you will be applying effective communication skills
in a business environment.
You will be particularly assessed on:
Your understanding and analysis of the course/module reading materials. Apply the theories that you covered within
the required module readings into the context of the assignment; simply repeating what the article says does not
constitute an adequate paper.
Your ability to apply the professional language and terminology of the underlying model.
Your effective and appropriate use of in-text citations to the assigned readings and other sourced material to
support your arguments
