Analysis of a poem

Analysis of a poem
Divide the poem into its specific partsnarrative, theme, image, sound, plot, literary devices.
3. Make sure that in your introduction or near your introduction you describe or summarize the piece of writing objectively. Do not assume that your reader has read the work. Include relevant details such as the name of the writer, the title, the journal, and the date of publication.
The analysis should be clear to a reader who has not read the piece you are discussing. Clarity is essential.
4. Your analytical essay will be similar to a review in that you are forming an opinion about the work; however, you will be writing about it in a formal context. In other words, you will be discussing the work in terms of how the various parts are working together as a whole and interpreting what the writer is trying to do with his or her poem.
