Henry David Thoreaus Walden, or Life in the Woods

Henry David Thoreaus Walden, or Life in the Woods
Using Walden (probably the chapter entitled, Sounds) as a basis, please explain Thoreaus idea of how technology
intrudes into the lives of people. Then, please how his idea(s) relate to a modern-day intrusion into our lives.
How does our current technological progress intrude upon a persons peace of mind?
There is a fair amount to consider here. Technology has permeated virtually every aspect of our society, I believe
it is important to each of us. We live our daily lives plugged in, wired, and connected. There are extreme benefits
and conveniences to being so interconnected. At the same time, there are disturbing dangers, evils lurking behind
the seductive smiles of those pushing us toward more, better, faster, lets-keep-everything-up-to-the-minute-gadget!
Although we can no longer put the [technological] genie back in the bottle and most of us would not want to return
to the days of less technology, we should be aware of the limits of technology and the limits we want to impose
upon the technology around us. As you are considering this idea, you will need to explore one very narrow, very
specific slice of the vast technological pie out there. Ask yourself some of the following questions:

How has technology erased our notion of privacy?

How has technology whether social media, marketing, Google glass, or the Internet, changed the way we think
(rewired our brains)?

What are the effects of mapping the human brain?
How has modern technology infringed upon individual rights?
How has technology changed our relationship with money?

How is technology used to steal your identity?
How has technology changed our relationship with celebrity?
How has the Internet changed the way we think?
How has technology changed espionage?
How has GPS affected our lives?
How does Google do what it does? To what effect?
How has/will DNA identification change our society?
Has social media made us happier or sadder?
How is facial recognition technology used?
Essentially, you want to pick a question, narrow it to something that you can answer in the space to which you are
confined (six or more pages, not including your works cited page). You must include use and cite at least three
different kinds of sources for this research paper; and, of course, they all need to be cited properly using MLA
guidelines. You must use/cite Walden. For the other sources, some possibilities include:
The Internet
Books
Periodicals
Interviews with expert authorities
Films
Museum displays and literature
